Final Thoughts

The second year is coming to close, and thus my first year as a student here in Edinburgh College of Art.

Honestly as cliche as it sounds, this years has gone by incredible quickly. Everything still feels so new here, like I'm still a brand new student who just got their conditional accepted through UCAS.

The Animation department here in Wonderful, as well as it's lecturers and our resident technician. The only thing that was bad or wrong about my year here was entirely on me. I feel like I have wasted so many opportunities to learn to use various equipment that I only got to touch on near the end. I have yet to even use the line checkers for 2D drawing, instead sticking to digital programs I could use from the comfort of my bed when physical and mental health says NO to be taking a long bus journey in.

The studio and compute room atmosphere is so nice. No one talks that much but even so it's comfortable. As I work on my Coffee Project Maya Animation I don't feel really anxious, it's hard to with the natural sunlight coming in, with Edinburgh Castle peeking out from behind several computer towers lined up next to the window.

There were some concerns earlier in the year in semester one, with students complaining about the lack of 'teaching' from staff. I however already knew and had been forewarned that as a University student here, a lot of it is ourselves learning on our own or finding others who may know, that is when a lecturer is otherwise unavailable. Thankfully that passed, as it certainly made Studio Time and Space a tad awkward to sit through.

Jared and Alan have been absolutely so helpful and lovely to me, as well as understanding concerning medical stuff on my end. I can only hope and work hard so in my 4th year end show, my final animated film will be of a quality there were glad to take me on here.
